The Old Town and Lac d'Annecy

6/6

This morning we woke up to a crazy thunderstorm. The wind was wailing and we could hear something pelting against our windows. I took a peek and at first I though it was sleeting, but I then realized it was hail! It stormed and rained for a few hours cutting into our paddle boating plans.

Once the weather cleared Nico and I decided to walk through the city today and check out the local bakery that was suggested by our AirBnB hosts. On our way we found so many beautiful canals. Supposedly Annecy is nicknamed the "Venice of The Alps."

You can see why! Water everywhere! Annecy is surprisingly very touristy. Although busy, people really take their time here. They're enjoying every bit of this city's beauty. We found it's quite hard to find an open bench to sit on and relax.

It was finally time to go pick up my new dress for our dinner cruise tonight!

Isn't she a beauty? It was hard to not go crazy and drop lots of money in this store! It's so cute. Naf Naf is a woman's clothing store located all over France.

After freshening up it was time to head to the boat.

We love a good dinner cruise.

When we had purchased our tickets we bought the "Dragonfly" package. Appetizer, entree, and desert. When we arrived there were two menus. Struggling to understand what we were looking at we asked our waiter  if the two menus were all of our options for dinner? He responded saying, "yes those are your options and there's no difference between the two menus."

So we ordered what we wanted.

fried escargot

Salmon appetizer  - so good!

Nico ordered Froie Gras (duck fat)

Fish of the day (not sure what it was, but it was YUM!) veggies, and legumes

Nico ordered pork, carrots and sweet potatoes - DELISH!

We really had the opportunity to see the whole lake while were in the cruise.

We were on cloud nine. Hard to believe what we were looking at was right in front of us. Then unfortunately we had to deal with a little situation regarding the bill.

Our waiter brought out a cheese plate before our dessert. I knew immediately something was wrong because the cheese plate was only in the highest packaged dinner. Nico walked up to our waiter and mentioned that we didn't order this and we wanted to make sure we ordered the right package.

Basically, long story short (there's a whole lot of back and forth that happened,) we ordered one appetizer and one entree off of the "highest package menu." Remember how I said there were two menus at our table setting and our waiter said there was no difference? Well there was, there was a 60€ difference. We were told there was nothing that could be done because we ordered off that menu. Yup. We were played. Kind of ruined the rest of the ride for us.

Dessert came out and it was wrong, but it was ice cream so we didn't care. We didn't want to bring up another problem. We were just ready to get off.

Overall the ride was beautiful and well worth it. Just make sure your waiter knows what package you purchased when getting your tickets so you don't end up spending way more that you thought.

Nico and I spent our last day in Annecy on the Lake. I swear the view never gets old!

We decided to pack a lunch to eat on the water or in the park.

We walked around the lake a decided what we wanted to do. We knew we wanted to get on the water somehow! Whether it was a boat tour or paddle boats.

Lunch on the lake it is! We rented a paddle boat and enjoyed our meal, the view and the weather!

After an hour or so on the water we wanted to check out the other side of the lake. There is a beach called Imperial Beach! Our hosts highly recommending going there for drinks.

On the way we had to get some ice cream!

The birds have no fear. They get so close to you. This little guy wanted the last bit of my cone.

Along the way we came across this beautiful swan! Picturesque!

When we arrived at the beach it wasn't nessisarily a "beach" you'd think of. There was a lot of grass and a swimming area. There were also playgrounds, putt-putt courses, restaurants, bars, and volleyball courts. There were tons of people laying out on the grass. We didn't realize it was a topless beach! It was super family-oriented. Kids everywhere.

We decided to head over the bar and lounge and get a few drinks.

Nico and I ended up hanging out at the bar for a few hours and just soaked it all in. It was the perfect last day! We enjoyed every bit of our trip and can't wait to return to Annecy!

Love,
